Meet our Leader and Founder
Carolina Blanco is the founder and director of The Artsy Hippo. She is a Miami-based artist with a special passion for teaching. She has been an Art teacher and one-on-one freelance art instructor and coach, for the last ten years.
The Artsy Hippo was born from her desire, as a parent to have high-quality, after school enriching program
Carolina Blanco is the founder and director of The Artsy Hippo. She is a Miami-based artist with a special passion for teaching. She has been an Art teacher and one-on-one freelance art instructor and coach, for the last ten years.
The Artsy Hippo was born from her desire, as a parent to have high-quality, after school enriching programs, right in our schools campuses. She designed a fun and dynamic programs to expose students to different media and to guide them in the process of expressing their imagination through art.
Carolina has a Master in Painting from Accademia di Belle Arti in the city of Terni in Italy. In addition to holding a Professional Certification in Drawing and Painting from the Accademia Italiana in Florence, Italy.
She has been making art since childhood. Her visual art includes mixed media collages, acrylic paintings and watercolors. Her works have been exhibited and are in private collections in several countries. Carolina is familiar with large public art through her work as a muralist. She has worked as an artist mentor with the mile-long Hubbard Street Mural Project in Chicago, Illinois; for which her work was selected.

Art teaches children to be creative and innovative. It helps them understand other subjects much more clearly from math and science, to language and geography. There is a correlation between art and other achievements. Children who receive regular art and music exposure are four times more likely to be recognized for academic excellence

Children who receive regular art and music exposure are four times more likely to be recognized for academic excellence, to participate in a math, science fair or essay contest. Many studies and research papers have been written demonstrating the link between receiving regular art education and higher academic test scores and grades.
The earliest the children are expose to art the greater the benefits. By holding paintbrushes and learning how to control paint, ink, crayons, scissors, and other art tools, children strengthen eye-hand motor coordination, obtain fine muscle control and gain the skills necessary for later writing activities as well as a feeling of control over themselves and their world. Human beings need art to become flexible creative thinkers . Art offers a tremendous help in the development of self-esteem, self-discipline, cooperation, and self-motivation . Art projects also engage higher-level thinking, which promotes an increase in problem-solving skills. Art projects force children to create action plans, (knowingly or unknowingly), to allocate their time, materials and individual skills to create and finalize their art masterpiece.

Our classes are offered at different school campuses all over Miami Dade County.
Our Clubs and Classes are weekly and start right after dismissal time. They are grouped according to grade range. We require the use of a classroom, preferably the art room if the school has one. We will file all necessary paperwork and proof of insurance

The Artsy Hippo will supply your school with adequate promotional materials to alert parents of their after-school enrichment options. We will provide paper flyers to go home with students as well as copy for your newsletter.

The Artsy Hippo is on the move to make your Art Party a complete success. Everyone takes home artwork and great memories of a fun time with friends.
The Artsy Hippo involves all participants in creative, hands-on activities that kids and adults love. Parties are instructor-led, last approximately 1.5 hours, and include all materials.
We can go to your preferred location, your home, or your office, in addition, many restaurants will gladly open their doors for guests to have an on-location paint party in their establishment while enjoying food and drinks.
Never Painted before? No Worries …We have talented Artists ready to take you on your journey. Each one of your guests will end the session with their original work of art
